What's left over isn't wasted

The organic waste from our hotels is used as a raw material for bioenergy plants. Through an innovative processing method, the waste is converted into green energy and supplied back to our hotels.

So it isn’t thrown away—it’s always reused in a smart way! For example, many products are refrigerated in a hotel. All the energy extracted from this process is reused within the hotel. For instance, keeping beer cold helps heat water in the guest rooms.

Not only is energy reused, but it’s also used efficiently. Our range hoods have only one setting. Using infrared sensors, the range hood detects the amount of smoke and adjusts the intake and exhaust speeds accordingly.

Doing one's part

Sustainability is a priority not only in day-to-day operations but also during construction. For example, several hotels have already been awarded the BREEAM-NL In-Use sustainability certification. This is a widely accepted certification in the Netherlands for evaluating a building’s sustainability aspects.

Hotels currently under construction include the Deventer Hotel and the Schiedam Hotel.

Electric car drivers appreciate having fast-charging stations located along busy highways. That’s why a growing number of Valk Exclusief hotels offer the latest charging technologies for your electric car.

These include the New Motion fast chargers, Lolo Smart charging stations, and the Tesla Supercharger.

Energy Supply

We do everything we can to use and generate our energy as efficiently as possible. For example, we reuse the heat released during electricity generation. Heat from the engine and flue gas cooling systems is used to heat your shower.

Not only heat is reused, but also commonly used products. For example, all remnants of old candles from the restaurants are collected, melted down, and turned into new candles.

FSC-certified paper

We can’t avoid using paper, so we’ve sought out a responsible way to do so. That’s why all our documents, brochures, and magazines are made from FSC-certified paper. The FSC system ensures that the world’s forests can be preserved through responsible forest management.

By using FSC-certified paper, we directly contribute to the protection of our global forests and to a healthy living environment for people and animals worldwide.
